After defending Chris Brown from crowd booing at Sunday’s American Music Awards, Kelly Rowland is stepping up her support for the embattled musician.
“I believe grace is very real and we all need a dose of it,” Rowland tells TMZ in the video above. “And before we point fingers at anyone, we should realize how grateful we are for every moment we get, even for our own things that we have.” I just think it’s important to remember to be human. We are humans.”
When asked if the public should forgive Brown, she replies, “We all need to be forgiven for anything we might do, anything we think. We all fall short in some way, and grace is real. And we are human. Everyone deserves mercy, period.”
These comments follow Rowland’s controversial appearance at Sunday’s AMAs, where she accepted the award for Favorite Male R&B Artist on behalf of Brown. Hearing boos from the audience, Rowland urged the naysayers to “relax,” then proceeded to commend Brown for his artistic contributions.

According to a video he shared on Instagram, Brown was originally scheduled to attend this year’s AMAs, but producers have reportedly decided to cancel his Michael Jackson tribute “for reasons unknown.”
The singer has been a highly controversial socialite since he was accused of assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna in February 2009. The incident happened while the couple were on their way to the Grammys. Brown pleaded guilty to assault.
