ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) — Despite a sweltering heatwave that continued to blanket Southern California on Friday, Disneyland visitors flocked to the Anaheim theme park as the annual Halloween-time celebrations began.
“I love it,” said park-goer Katrina Snape, who has a “Mickey Pumpkin” tattooed on her left arm. “We look forward to it every year.”
Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort features seasonal decor, Halloween attractions, photo opportunities with Disney characters and villains, and special treats.
Shirley Bishop celebrated her birthday at Disneyland on Friday – “because that’s what the kids decided,” she said, laughing.
In addition to all the festive attractions, visitors can enjoy seasonal treats like pumpkin spice churros, ghost pepper nachos, gingerbread zombie cookies, and a selection of fun drinks.
On Friday, many enjoyed Dole Whip to brave the heat. Others cooled off in the air-conditioned Haunted Mansion, which was undergoing its annual “cheerful macabre makeover” with accents inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Across from Disney California Adventure, the Plaza de la Familia honors eternal family bonds and the spirit of Día de los Muertos with a celebration inspired by Pixar’s “Coco.”
Halloween time runs until October 31st.
