LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. (KABC) – A Level 3 fire broke out at a Los Alamitos commercial building Tuesday morning, prompting a massive response by firefighters.

The fire started around 5:31 a.m. in a one-story building near the intersection of Kyle and Catalina streets, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and initially took up defensive positions as flames erupted from around the building.

No injuries were immediately reported.

A fire department spokesman said challenges related to the firefight included hazardous materials inside the building and electrical wires overhead.

AIR7 HD’s video showed hoses draining water from several turntable ladders onto the fire.

Although Los Alamitos Unified School District offices are nearby, they were not exposed to the blaze, the OCFA spokesman said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
