WATCH: Trappers clash with an alligator in a Florida neighborhood

(NBC News) – Trappers have been called out to capture a 5-foot-long American crocodile that was spotted in a Miami-Dade neighborhood on Saturday.

Body camera video provided by Pesky Critters Wildlife Control shows the reptile charging at the trappers who are wrestling with it outside a resident’s home in Coral Gables.

Local police secured the area to ensure the safety of residents while trappers Todd Hardwick and Noah Dean secured and took custody of the crocodile.

According to a statement from Pesky Critters, crocodiles are a threatened species in Florida and are critically endangered throughout the United States.

The crocodile was released safely in southern Biscayne Bay.
