Video shows students running in all directions and ducking for cover as armed officers approached the man.

WEST HILLS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Shocking video shows students running in all directions and ducking for cover as armed Los Angeles police officers approached a knife-wielding man near a West Hills McDonald’s.

It happened near the site at the intersection of Platt Avenue and Victory Boulevard on Friday afternoon.

Video obtained by Eyewitness News shows officers pursuing the man with a large knife.

He reportedly ran to McDonald’s, where several teenagers were eating. You can hear some of them screaming in the video.

“Across the street we see this guy holding like a big knife and he’s running across the street like he’s walking towards me and my friend,” said Paxton Huynh.

Several officers pursued the suspect before finally being able to subdue him in the parking lot. The knife was secured.

It’s unclear what triggered the incident, but no injuries were reported.

The suspect, who has not yet been identified, was taken into custody shortly thereafter.

The incident is being further investigated.
