Jen Shah’s cheating case is going to be a big story The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 3.

The series, which also stars Heather Gay, Whitney Rose, Lisa Barlow and Meredith Marks, returns for its highly anticipated third installment.

Fans of the show know that in March 2021, Shah, 48, was arrested while filming the second season of the Bravo show in Utah, as was Stuart Smith, one of her assistants who appeared on the show.

Shah and Smith were allegedly involved in a scam operation involving a telemarketing scheme in which “hundreds” of people, many over the age of 55, were scammed by selling “lead lists” for fictitious business opportunities.

After her arrest, Shah said she was innocent several times on the show, but she has since pleaded guilty to the charges.

news week previously reported that Shah pleaded guilty on July 11 to her connection to an alleged telemarketing scheme and now faces several years in prison.

According to a press release from the US Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York, Shah “today pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wireline fraud in connection with telemarketing, by which she victimized 10 or more persons over the age of 55. with a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.”

The reality star also “agreed to forfeit $6.5 million and pay up to $9.5 million in damages” as part of her guilty plea, according to the press release.

Shah originally pleaded not guilty and was tried on July 18. She is scheduled to be sentenced by US District Judge Sidney H. Stein on November 28.

During the second half of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City In season 2, after her arrest, Shah said she was “innocent”. In a scene with her husband Sharrieff Shah, she said: “I’m innocent. I didn’t do any of those things.”

Then while The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City At the Season 2 reunion, which aired on Bravo in March 2022, Shah told host Andy Cohen that she was “innocent.”

She said: “I’m fighting this, I’m innocent. I’m going to fight this for every person out there who can’t fight for themselves because they don’t have the resources or means, so don’t fight.

“I’m going to fight because, firstly, I’m innocent and secondly, I’m going to represent every other person out there who can’t and couldn’t fight. I just hope we can do better in the future and don’t judge people.”

Cohen then asked her if he would see her again for a reunion in Season 3 and she said, “Of course. I do not go anywhere.”

Then, after pleading guilty in July 2022, Shah’s attorney Priya Chaudhry said in a statement sent to news week: “Mrs. Shah is a good woman who has crossed a line. She takes full responsibility for her actions and deeply apologizes to all who have been harmed. Ms Shah is also sorry for disappointing her husband, children, family, friends and supporters. Jen has pleaded guilty because she wants to pay off her debt to society and put this ordeal behind her and her family.”

Shah opens up about her ongoing legal battle again in the dramatic trailer for The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 3, which premiered on September 28.

In the footage, the star says she was “played by Stuart Smith,” her former assistant who was arrested alongside her in March 2021, adding, “I wouldn’t be in this at all if it wasn’t for Stuart.”

After Shah’s guilty plea, persons reported that the case was “a very big part of Jen’s story” for Season 3, adding, “The producers don’t want us to stop following him now. They will film with her for as long as possible, just like they did with Teresa [Giudice].”

E! later reported the show had finished filming prior to Shah’s request but had resumed capturing new footage, including reactions from Shah’s co-stars.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 3 is scheduled to air Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo. The previous two seasons are available to stream on Peacock.
