Lucille and Cyril make a decision about their future, and sister Trixie discovers the truth about a new friend
TIED TOGETHER: Recap of the 2021 Christmas Special Call the Midwife: A Poplar Wedding
When we last checked in with Nurse Trixie (Helen George), Nurse Julienne (Jenny Agutter), Dr. Turner (Stephen McGann) and the other residents of Poplar reported they were headed for a busy Christmas season, thanks to Lucille (Leonie Elliott) and Cyril (Zephryn Taitte).
In the season 10 finale, the engaged couple made a big change to their wedding plans. They originally hoped to return home to get married so they could celebrate with their friends and family. (Lucille is from Jamaica, while Cyril is from Guyana.) But that would mean putting off the wedding, and they didn’t want to wait any longer. So they decided to have a Christmas wedding in Poplar. Viewers can expect to see the couple’s sweet ceremony in 2021 Call the midwife Christmas special opening Season 11.
Lucille and Cyril aren’t the only ones Call the midwife characters with love in brain. Throughout Season 10, there were hints that Nonnatus House’s stylish midwife Trixie and recently widowed single father Matthew Aylward (Olly Rix) were having feelings for one another. But in the season 10 finale, the two hit a speed bump when Trixie learned that Matthew’s family owned several run-down slum buildings in Poplar. To his credit, he took steps to fix the problem after Trixie brought it to his attention. He also pitched in with a generous financial donation that put Nonnatus House back on a solid financial footing for the first time in a long time. Those moves were enough to put him back in Trixie’s good graces, and it seems things are probably going in a romantic direction for her.
Nancy took a desperate step in the season 10 finale of Call the Midwife

Of course, not everything was romance in it Call the midwife Season 10. Viewers also met nursing trainee Nancy Corrigan (Megan Cusack). Towards the end of the season we learned that Nancy had an illegitimate daughter and that she spent her days off visiting her child at the Catholic orphanage where she lived.
In the season 10 finale, Nancy discovers that the nuns have been abusing her daughter, Colette. She took Colette from the orphanage and fled with her to a cheap hotel. But she knew her money wouldn’t last long. And as a single woman with one child and minimal skills in the mid-1960s, Nancy had little hope of finding a decent job and a place to live for her and her daughter. When their colleagues from Nonnatus House realized what had happened, they stepped in and found a solution. Nancy could continue to reside at Nonnatus House while she completes her education. Colette would live with a foster family and have regular visits from her mother until Nancy finished her studies. After that, she will be able to find a job and live independently. New cast member Cusack is back Call the midwife Season 11, and viewers can expect to see more of her and Colette in these episodes.
