Starring Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, Christopher Plummer and Madeleine Stowe, Pitt was nominated for an Oscar. Gilliam’s film is actually a remake of the French avant-garde feature film La Jetee. The film follows a virus outbreak in 1996 and an elaborate time travel heist to create a cure.

Things don’t go far according to plan as Willis’ character Cole is sent back in the wrong year and subsequently sent to a mental institution for his outlandish beliefs. In essence, this is a film destined for a remake within the next fifty years, chronicling the COVID pandemic.
