where is santa claus NORAD and Google’s Santa Trackers are live

If we take time zones into account, Santa Claus has approximately 31 hours to bring joy to around 100 million children around the world, which equates to approximately 900 visits per second. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, the prowess of Rudolph and co. Undoubtedly absorbing thousands of tons of pressure created by the unimaginable acceleration of Santa’s sleigh makes Jolly Ol’ Saint Nicholas’ plight one of the most impressive in history.

Physics aside, it’s about time the kids of the world had more than a few sober thoughts on everyone’s favorite holiday hero. Thanks to NORAD, parents no longer have to do the mental gymnastics that used to go along with asking questions about Santa Claus.

That’s right, the NORAD Santa Tracker is live again.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) has taken the liberty of following Santa’s journey since 1958. As the internet has gotten what it is over the past few years, it’s only gotten easier to keep track of the trajectory of Santa’s sleigh of treats.

The NORAD Santa Tracker website can be accessed here, while the tracker itself can be accessed by clicking on the electronic map graphic in the top right corner, conveniently labeled “Start Tracking Santa Now”.

Alternatively, if you’re kinda averse to NORAD, you can also keep track of Santa’s journey with Google’s Santa Tracker. Along with a live stream with questionable resolution and an additional tracker keeping tabs on the number of gifts delivered, Google also gives you a rough estimate of when Santa will stop at your chimney.

If you tell your kids that Santa Claus is in Indonesia or British Columbia, you might be able to forego some Christmas magic instead of making up your own explanations for the jolly red giant’s antics. Last but not least, NORAD and Google have certainly saved us the risk of not all of our Santa Clause stories matching, lest we accidentally destroy the illusion.
