It’s no secret that Disney owns many companies and would probably buy the whole world if it could. In addition to Disney’s various theme parks, the more than 100-year-old company is also active in the areas of streaming (Disney Plus), network TV (ABC) and sports (ESPN).
Disney also owns Lucasfilm, Marvel, and Pixar, meaning Luke Skywalker and Wall-E could potentially exist in a crossover someday. The question was asked on Twitter: What if characters from classic Disney films had to fight Marvel characters? Who would win?
Let’s take a look at some of these matchups and find out who will be the front runner (mouse).
Tinkerbell Vs. The Wasp
Is this even a contest? What are Tinker Bell’s powers aside from being annoying? Maybe that’s unfair. Tink can fly around and produce fairy dust that she can lend to others so they can fly as well. She’s also a pretty good “tinkerer” (hence the name) and can repair pots and acorn caps.
As far as I can tell, that’s it. She has no fighting ability at all. Wasps, on the other hand, can shrink and grow larger at will. She has superhuman strength, endurance, and can travel at speeds of up to 125 miles per hour.
Wasp is also a superhero with a genius intellect and a mastery of martial arts. That wouldn’t even be a fair fight. The only thought Tink could do is pray for a quick death.
Verdict: The Wasp. Not even close.
Maleficent vs Doctor Strange
This is at least theoretically a bit more balanced. They are both wizards and both hold positions of power. Maleficent is evil too, which helps. The tricky part is that most Marvel characters are trained fighters and most Disney characters are not.
The good news is that Maleficent is absolutely one of Disney’s most powerful villains. With her staff, she can teleport, cast spells, project lightning, and see into the future. She can transform into a giant dragon and spit hot fire. She can summon items and also control the weather. In fact, this was not going to be an easy fight.
The good Doctor Strange, on the other hand, is no slouch when it comes to magic. He is the most powerful member of the Masters of the Mystic Arts. He can summon weapons and shields with Eldritch Magic, and he can cast spells with various powers.
Strange can also travel through dimensions, create portals, and project beams of energy. His cloak can also help him in battle. I’m honest, this could be close. When these two went head-to-head, spells would fly through the air like fireworks.
Obviously, if Strange could get close enough to attack Maleficent, he would overpower her, but she’s too smart to let that happen. Maleficent could also transform into something huge to even the odds. I will give the Strange but only because he would banish Maleficent to another dimension and not defeat her one on one.
Conclusion: Doctor Strange.
Ariel Vs Namor
This would be a short fight. Ariel’s “abilities” include the ability to talk to fish, breathe underwater, and swim very quickly. This means she was able to retreat quickly when Namor pursued her. She’s also a really good singer and dancer.
Am I missing something? Oh, she can learn to walk very quickly once she has legs. Namor, on the other hand, has superhuman strength, speed, and endurance. He can fly too. Nearly every sense in Namor’s body is enhanced and he is able to heal quickly due to his metabolism. Namor is also a trained warrior.
Honestly, a 13-year-old boy who took a full day of karate classes could win a fight against Ariel. She would have to enlist the help of her father, King Triton, who could probably at least hold a candle to Namor.
Namor’s only weakness is that he becomes weaker when he doesn’t have water, which Ariel needs anyway, or water pollution, which would also harm Ariel. I can’t think of a scenario where she wins that, but I’m happy to argue about it.
Verdict: Namor, by far.
Robin Hood vs Hawkeye
One is an incredibly charming anthropomorphic fox with a penchant for robbing rich people and trick shots; the other is a human who is really good at archery. On the surface, this may seem like a done deal, but is it?
Clint Barton’s main ability is that he’s the “world’s greatest archer,” but that’s a human archer. Robin is definitely the world’s best Fox archer. Now you’re probably saying Robin is only good at trick shots, but let’s not forget about Robin’s other skills. He is a master of disguise and very adept at sneaking around.
One on one, sure, Hawkeye would have an advantage. But if Robin takes his time and plans things out, maybe pretends to be a barista where Barton gets his morning coffee and then mugs him, then I think we’ve gotten into a fight.
Remember, Burton is human and Robin is a talking fox, so what else happens to magical things? Don’t count the charm either. Hawkeye is a wet blanket.
Conclusion: Robin Hood.
Disney Beast vs. Marvel Beast
This is a good matchup and by no means a sure thing. What Disney Beast (DB) lacks in intellect, he makes up for in sheer, unbridled fury. Marvel Beast (MB) is also strong, but its main strength, one could argue, is its superior intellect. Actually, he’s kind of a nerd.
First, let’s go through some facts. DB is not a wimp. He possesses superhuman strength, speed, agility, durability, and healing. He is good at sneaking and has razor sharp claws and fangs. Like MB, he is also intelligent as he was a prince before he was an animal.
MB shares many of the same traits and he has the perceived advantage of training with Professor Xavier and the X-Men. He’s incredibly athletic and sometimes goes into a kind of berserker rage.
This goes to the DB. He’s bigger and decidedly meaner. He’s stronger too. He would pound MB to a pulp and rip him to shreds. It would still be a good fight.
Conclusion: Disney Beasts.
Mary Poppins vs Yondu
This is a big deal. On the surface it might seem like a done deal, but if you dig a little deeper, it’s not as simple as it seems.
We never really saw the full extent of Mary Poppins’ power. We know she can fly. She also has a bottomless rug bag that can carry anything she wants. Poppins can make things happen with a snap of his fingers and travel through chalk portals. is she a sorceress A witch? What else can she do?
Yondu’s powers are pretty basic. He has the ability to control a deadly arrow through a series of whistles. Other than that, he is a thief, pilot and leader of a renegade faction of the Ravagers.
Poppins could obliterate Yondu by summoning his arrow and neutralizing it in her bottomless pouch. She was then able to use her ability to manipulate the world around her to snatch him half the way she closed the bed in the film. The truth is that Mary Poppins could be the most powerful being in all of Disney. We just don’t know.
Would you want to fight Mary Poppins?
Verdict: Mary Poppins.
The Incredibles vs Fantastic Four
Here’s another one where we need to state the facts because it’s also going to be close. Let’s start with the incredibles. Mr. Incredible possesses super strength, speed, and agility. However, he is not invulnerable and feels pain. His counterpart on the Fantastischen Vier side would be Ben Grimm aka The Thing.
Mr. Incredible sometimes accidentally breaks and dents things, showing that he does not fully master his powers. Thing has similar powers, but he’s also immortal in his rocky body, meaning he could theoretically outlive anyone. His main weakness is that he will eventually lose his powers if he is not around the other members of his team.
Elastigirl is fairly invulnerable and immune to bullets. She can also stop missiles with her body and transform into various objects. She is one mother who can never be counted, if only out of sheer rage when it comes to protecting her children. Her counterpart in the FF is Mr. Fantastic.
Mr. Fantastic is a super genius in addition to his plastic abilities. A martial arts expert and hypnotist, he can bend into any shape imaginable.
Daughter Violet Parr can become invisible and create force fields. Not the most exciting power, but that’s pretty much identical to what Sue Storm aka Invisible Woman can do. Sue can also use some kind of radar, cause explosions and send shockwaves.
That leaves us with Jack-Jack, who, like Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch, can set himself on fire. Because Jack-Jack is a baby, he’s a wild card and could very well turn the fight around, if only because of the unknown. Johnny Storm can fly very fast and convert his fire energy into super powerful explosions.
Johnny is also persistent and quite impulsive, which can lead to bad decisions. Finally we have Dash Parr who is super fast and can run on water and buildings. He never gets tired, but he’s still a kid so his powers are still developing.
The FF are four adults and The Incredibles are two adults and three children. It would be a good fight, but I’ll have to leave that one to Marvel.
Conclusion: Fantastic Four (but Jack-Jack is a wild card.)
