Who legend Pete Townshend confirms huge new project at 78

Bet The Who bring us some new tracks – although not in the way you might expect?
The band’s guitarist, Pete Townshend, is working on music for his 2019 hit novel The Age Of Anxiety.
He confirmed the project and told me: “I’m still developing the score and recording the music.
“I am also working on a documentary about the project, from its inception in 2007 to the present day. It’s probably two years away from completion, and then I hope to be able to perform it with a full opera and a cast of guest singers.”
Pete’s novel explores the anxieties of modern life through a diverse range of characters.
The Who are known for their concept records, with Pete writing the majority of the 1969 album Tommy, a rock opera telling the story of the character Tommy Walker.
He also developed the concept behind Quadrophenia, their 1973 album which told the story of Mod Jimmy. Both became box office hits
And Pete isn’t the only member of The Who who has a passion project on the side.
Roger Daltrey announced last year that he had written the script for a biopic about the band’s late drummer Keith Moon.
Keith died in 1978 aged just 32 and Roger said he wanted to immortalize his incredible life on the big screen.
He added: “I wrote a script about his life because I’ve never met anyone who looked like Keith in my life. He was the funniest man I ever met.
“But he couldn’t control his talent.
“If you tried to make a film and asked him, ‘Could you do that again?’ he would say, ‘No.’ He couldn’t do it again.
“With him everything was polar opposites.
“Yes, he had incredible flaws, he had an incredible tragedy in his life.
“But everyone who knew him, who met him, loved him.”
Jess looks great!
JESS GLYNNE looks absolutely stunning in this skimpy black dress as she celebrates her new single – and marks a milestone in her relationship.
The singer showed off her toned stomach in the picture as her girlfriend Alex Scott made their romance official on Instagram.
Jess co-wrote her latest track Friend of Mine, released on Friday, with DJ and producer Sub Focus.
The release coincided with her birthday and former England footballer Alex sent her a lovely message on social media.
She shared a snap of Jess and wrote: “Happy new song day and you,” with a kiss emoji.
The couple have not spoken publicly about their romance since The Sun revealed they were a couple this month.
But Jess’ new song is certainly not about her current partner.
It focuses on regretting a conflict with someone close to you.
However, there might be some love songs on their next album.
Kylie is such a busy boy
As if she wasn’t busy enough with her stay in Las Vegas, Kylie Minogue has revealed that she will be working on her next album at the same time.
The Spinning Around singer, who will play a series of dates at The Venetian Resort in the city, has big plans for the follow-up to Tension, which went straight to No. 1 this month.
Kylie said: “What I think about it and what I think about my main co-writers is that we’ve tapped into something that I’d like to explore further.
“I don’t think I’ll be that fast, but I think I’ll start working on it (in Vegas).”
Kylie has already enlisted the help of her longtime collaborators, including Richard “Biff” Stannard, Duck Blackwell and Jackson Foote.
She told the Billboard Pop Shop podcast: “I just send them a message: ‘Incoming, expect blah, blah, blah, turn it into magic if it doesn’t’.”
“But I only send things that are suitable for shipping.
“There are some people I work with – the team I talk about a lot – that I could send something terrible to, like, ‘Here’s the idea, just something that will move us forward’.”
“I would feel comfortable with those people, but not with everyone.”
Kylie told me in July that she had shed “blood, sweat and tears” preparing for her shows in Sin City.
But before the six-month run, she added: “Bruises, sleepless nights, all those things. But the reward is the fans. They have their babysitter, they take time off work and spend their money to come to a show. So the blood, sweat and tears are worth it.”
SARA COX reckons Zoe Ball would be on the phone with a lawyer if she ever spilled the stories of their wild time together.
When they started out at Radio 1 in the mid-1990s, they were party animals.
Sara told the Changes With Annie MacManus podcast: “Zoe Ball’s lawyers would attack me. I would not do that. We made an unspoken pact to close it.
“I never intended to write a memoir about my working life.”
SARA DALLIN and Keren Woodward have released the new Bananarama single Feel The Love.
It will be featured on the greatest hits LP Glorious: The Ultimate Collection, due out next March to celebrate four decades of the group’s founding. They will also be playing the London Palladium on April 3rd.
Keren said: “We may feel that we have not received the recognition, respect and recognition that we deserve.
“I feel like the collection of songs we’ve put together hopefully speaks for itself.
Still Gaga for lovers
There are no signs of a bad romance between Lady Gaga and her boyfriend Michael Polansky.
The singer and the tech entrepreneur held hands in New York after appearing on US sketch show Saturday Night Live.
Pals told how the couple ended their three-year romance earlier this year but were spotted together in Las Vegas last month.
They say the path of true love is never smooth.
Mollie’s second date was canceled
MOLLIE KING’s career as a television presenter has come to an abrupt end as her first major presenting gig was canceled after just one series.
Discovery+ has axed her dating show Beauty And The Geek, which the Saturdays singer co-hosted with her Radio 1 co-host Matt Edmondson, as it failed to capture viewers’ attention last year.
A source said: “The original series aired on E4 in 2006 and people were thrilled to see it come back.
“But this time it was a bit damp.
“It was decided that it would not return – at least not now.”
It’s a shame it didn’t work out, but given that Mollie is already navigating her radio shows as a new mom, perhaps this was a blessing.
Harry’s fans call Trunks
WHEN he’s not cycling around London, Harry Styles takes a bath.
And the former One Direction singer’s presence didn’t go unnoticed by fans, who were desperate to see him in his trunks.
But not everyone is happy about the attention from women. A local swimmer at the public ponds on Hampstead Heath, north London, told me she had seen a few ladies trying their luck.
They said: “Poor Harry has no hope of swimming in peace now.
“Ever since the pictures came out of him looking like Daniel Craig getting out of the water, the girls have been hanging around to see if they can spot him.
“I even saw a couple trying to get into the men’s locker rooms.”
AMEX is offering music hopefuls a prize that would put The X Factor to shame.
To stay in tune with the music industry, the company has launched the second year of its Amex Gold Unsigned initiative.
It hopes to help both emerging artists and grassroots venues.
Six finalists will receive a huge record deal, A&R support, mentorship, free studio time and the opportunity to play some of the biggest performances of their lives.
Musicians have until October 29 to apply ahead of a live final in November.
It’s Vegas, Bey-be
Rumor has it that Adele might be Beyoncé’s biggest fan – because she’s wearing a T-shirt with the superstar’s image on it.
The singer beamed after slipping on the top and shared a glittering photo of Queen Bey posing as a scantily clad cowgirl – merch was sold on her Renaissance world tour.
Social media footage showed a fan presenting the gift to Adele during a performance in Las Vegas.
Adele – also draped in a Welsh flag as a tribute to her grandparents and holding a packet of Jammie Dodger biscuits – later posted a picture of her in the promo gear on her Instagram.
This came after she announced that she would be making another 32 appearances in Sin City.

On Saturday, she took to the Colosseum stage at Caesar’s Palace for her 64th show.
We told you yesterday that she’s looking for a new place to live nearby while her stint on Weekends With Adele continues.
