The United Nations Food Price Index shows the monthly change in the price of a basket of food. The five commodities that make up this basket are grains, vegetable oils, sugar, meat, and dairy.

In March 2022, the index recorded the highest price level in its three-decade history. Since then, it has deviated slightly from this high level, but it is still well above the level of previous years.
