Jeffrey Dahmer was different from a young age
The Netflix series takes audiences on the twisted and gory journey of a killer who has stayed under the radar for years. Because he had to deal with his parents’ disputes and the impending divorce, he found a hobby in taxidermy thanks to his father. But his father unknowingly equipped him with the tools to become a killer.
Between 1978 and 1991, Dahmer had given in to his impulses and started killing. He targeted a local gay bar, with all of his victims being men. It’s not uncommon for pop culture movies and entertainment to inspire masses. But viewers would never have guessed why Dahmer wore contact lenses to make his eyes appear yellow. DAHMER – Monsters: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer reveals why.
In the first episode, Dahmer brings a new and his last victim back to his apartment. He threatens and forces him to sit on his bed to watch one of his favorite movies. That movie? The Exorcist III. As his victim cowers in fear, looking for a way to calm the killer, Dahmer quickly skips to his favorite scene. In the film, Father Morning (Nicol Williamson) tries to exorcise the demon from The Gemini Killer (Brad Dourif). Meanwhile, the scene takes a dramatic close-up of the killer’s bright yellow eyes before Father Morning’s head explodes.
It’s one of the reasons DAHMER – Monsters: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer gives for Dahmer’s fascination with yellow eyes. In the second episode, when Dahmer incapacitates Konerak in his apartment, the victim wakes up in Dahmer’s lap. To everyone’s surprise, Dahmer wears yellow contact lenses.
He explains that they are like those of the Emperor (Ian McDiarmid). Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi. Dahmer tells Konerak that he found her at a pawn shop. It’s no surprise that Dahmer started idolizing killers and villains from movies.

Viewers found the killer’s yellow eyes frightening
The Netflix series has reignited interest in Jeffrey Dahmer’s heinous crimes and reasons for using yellow eye contact lenses. On Reddit, a viewer explained that the details of the contacts served a chilling purpose.
“The scene in the Netflix show where he’s wearing the yellow contacts was very creepy. It comes in a close-up of Evan Peters from the victim’s perspective where you can clearly see the yellow lenses in his eyes and it makes him look utterly mythical, like some sort of human-faced ogre, werewolf, demon or hrendigo. ‘ said the viewer.
But in DAHMER – Monsters: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer, he explained, the yellow eyes giving him a sense of power. Another viewer on Reddit explains, “What makes it just as crazy to me is that he said he felt it gave him more power and control over his victims because the emperor controlled the people too.”
