Will Smith ‘Emancipation’ Movie Release Date, Trailer on Apple TV+

The trailer for Will Smith’s first film since the infamous Chris Rock Oscar smack has arrived.

Apple TV+ announced this slave drama on Monday emancipation will be available to stream on Friday December 9th, one week after its limited theatrical release (on December 2nd).

Inspired by a true story and directed by Antonine Fuqua (training day), the film stars the embattled Oscar winner as an enslaved man who “embarks on a perilous journey to reunite his family,” according to the official logline. You can check out the first teaser trailer below.

The message from emancipationThe release comes just over two months after Smith addressed his punch at Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars in a lengthy apology video. “There’s no part of me that thinks it was the right way to behave in that moment,” Smith said at the time. “There’s no part of me that thinks this is the optimal way to deal with a feeling of disrespect or insult.

“Disappointing people is my core trauma,” he continued. “I hate when I let people down… It hurts me psychologically and emotionally to know that I didn’t live up to how people saw me and how I felt about myself… I’m deeply remorseful and try to show remorse without me.” to be ashamed of myself. i am human I made a mistake. I try not to see myself as a piece of dirt.”

Days after the Oscars, Smith announced his retirement from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. His Board of Governors later banned Smith from all Academy events, including the annual Academy Awards, for 10 years. But the ban doesn’t stop that emancipation Stern kept from being nominated for an Oscar.
