Will there be another Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special in 2023?

This article contains spoilers for The Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special

The Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special was unwrapped on Disney Plus and is a delightful, if very light, piece of Christmas cheer. In the silly storyline, Drax and Mantis try to make up for Peter Quill’s many missed Christmases in space by bringing him the perfect present: Kevin Bacon. Bacon, who plays himself, isn’t too thrilled about being transported to an alien city housed in a colossal decapitated head, but he soon gets into the holiday spirit.

The special ends on a tearful moment and plenty of festive cheer. Everyone involved seems to have had fun making this, but after the credits roll there’s a tease that the Guardians of the Galaxy may not be done with Christmas yet.

In the post-credits scene, Rocket and Cosmo the Spacedog decorate Groot like a Christmas tree. Groot shrugs off the tinsel and baubles, leading to Cosmos angrily saying, “Groot ruined Christmas again!” Rocket looks at the camera and says, “Now we’ve got to have another special.”

Next we will see the MCU’s space heroes Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on May 5, 2023, with this film expected to round out the trilogy and conclude some of these characters’ stories. But at least based on that comment, it sounds like we could be getting another “Holiday Special” in 2023. Or at least some sort of future special is on the horizon.

The special mentions Easter, so we might get a quick Disney Plus adventure from the heroes for this holiday just before we head out volume 3. We don’t have any official announcements one way or the other just yet, but it certainly sounds like something will be announced soon.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special streaming now on Disney Plus.
