Wonder Man cast: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars in the Disney+ series

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II adds another comic book character to his resume.

The actor who previously played Doctor Manhattan on HBO Guardian series and currently appears as Black Manta in the Aquaman Movies, was cast as the Disney+ title winner miracle manour sister site Deadline reports.

First introduced in 1964, Wonder Man (aka Simon Williams) was portrayed as a gifted engineer who gains superhuman abilities and becomes an enemy of the Avengers, although he has also fought alongside the Marvel team in several capacities.

Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and writer-producer Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, community) are developing the live-action series about the longtime Marvel character, with Guest serving as lead writer. Filming could reportedly begin as early as 2023.

Although specific details about the show’s plot remain under wraps, Ben Kingsley is reportedly reprising his role as the villain Trevor Slattery, a character he has previously starred in on the big screen Iron Man 3 and Shang Chi.

Abdul-Mateen II also starred in Netflix The come down and has appeared in episodes of black mirror and The story of the maid. On the big screen, he has appeared in films such as The greatest showman, Baywatch, candy man and The Matrix Resurrections.
