‘Wordle’ #466 answer and hints on how to solve Wednesday, September 28 Puzzle

It’s been almost a year Wordl was first released to the public in October 2021, and the popularity of the online brain teaser shows little sign of waning.

The challenge is simple – guess a five-letter word in six tries or less. After each guess, the letters will light up showing how accurate you were. When a letter turns green, it is both in the word and in the correct position. Yellow/gold means it’s in the word but in the wrong place, while gray means it’s not in the word at all.

Wordl was invented by Josh Wardle, a New York-based software developer, as a nod to his name.

Speak with news weekWardle explained why Wordl Players are given six guesses for each word.

He said: “There’s a reason each word is five letters long and you have six tries to guess it. This may seem arbitrary, but with the prototype version I tested different word lengths and experimented with the number of tries.” Players were allowed.

“Through this refinement process, I found that five letters and six tries is the ideal sweet spot. It’s just limited enough to feel challenging and thought-provoking, but more often than not people still manage to solve it. So, you feel a real sense of real accomplishment.”

In January 2022, Wardle was sold Wordl to the New York Times for an unknown seven-figure sum.

Wordl has helped inspire a number of other online puzzles, including Quordles, worldly and the mathematically themed Nerd.
