Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, announces presidential bid for 2024

Ye was suspended from Twitter and Instagram for his offensive and anti-Semitic remarks, but returned to Twitter after Elon Musk unbanned him.
WASHINGTON — Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, has announced Twitter that he plans to run for president again in 2024.
In the first of many videos shared Thursday night, the rapper said he asked former President Donald Trump to be his vice presidential nominee in 2024. Trump, who announced his bid for the upcoming presidency earlier this month, turned down Ye.
“I think what worried Trump the most was that I asked him to be my vice president. I think that was at the bottom of the list of things that caught him off guard,” Ye said in the video. “It was the fact that I came in with intelligence.”
In the video, Ye claims Trump yelled that the rapper would lose if he ran for president. The rapper also shared what appears to be a campaign logo with the caption “#YE24.”
Ye was suspended from Twitter and Instagram for his anti-Semitic remarks, but returned to Twitter after Elon Musk unbanned him.
The announcement also comes shortly after Adidas, which made its Yeezy line, No more ye last month for his offensive and anti-Semitic remarks. Adidas said so expected to take a hit of 250 million euros ($246 million) to its net income this year from the move.
On Friday, Adidas said it was investigating allegations by the rapper of inappropriate behavior in the workplace, made in an anonymous letter by former employees. The letter also accuses the German sportswear brand of looking the other way.
Ye previously launched a presidential bid in 2020.
