Yucca Valley: Pups rescued after falling into a burrow blocked for hours by a 100lb desert tortoise named Oscar

YUCCA VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) — San Bernardino County firefighters came to the rescue of two puppies trapped in an underground turtle burrow for hours.

The curious pups got stuck in the hole in Yucca Valley. The exit to the cave was blocked by a 100-pound desert tortoise named Oscar.

Firefighters tried to lure Oscar out with a piece of watermelon, but it didn’t work. So they had to dig up and salvage the 5 month old puppies.

After some time, the rescuers managed to get to the dogs. Unharmed, Peo and Fin were reunited with their owner.
