Zoë Kravitz opens up about massive anxiety and drinking over directing ‘Pussy Island’

Zoe Kravitz has an enviable Hollywood career. Rock icon Lenny Kravitz’s 33-year-old daughter has appeared in The Batmanplayed along Kimiand appeared in the Fantastic Beasts franchises to name a few. However, she said her latest project is directing the film pussy islandwas her most difficult role to date.

While most people assume she’s cool and easygoing about everything, Zoë told Kravitz GQ that directing the film plagued her with anxiety.

There were problems sucking in a large crew; to work in a foreign country where she didn’t even know the language; Shooting near a haunted mansion and the overwhelming feeling of having to make so many decisions every day.

Now that she’s editing the film, she said she has a whole new set of concerns, the main one being whether or not audiences will embrace the film. “I think it’s really fun for people to hate actresses when they’re doing non-acting stuff,” she said.

The truth is that Zoë Kravitz is passionate about her work and it greatly influences her daily life. She said when she sits in the director’s chair, she becomes a “crazy person.” And that she couldn’t escape that feeling even if she tried to drown it out with whiskey.

“I’m still [crazy]. It was always hectic. A glass of whiskey at the end of the night or so would calm me down a bit. But there was no escape.”

Her father claimed that that energy is rooted in her – someone who doesn’t compromise and stays the course no matter what. “She knows so much who she is and who she isn’t and is not willing to sacrifice who she is. If something isn’t her or she doesn’t feel it, she won’t put a face on and act to make others feel comfortable or accept it.”

While Zoë Kravitz may be prone to anxiety and stress, she has a penchant for bringing people together pussy island Star Alia Shawkat.

“She’s the best vibe curator I can think of. She is very calm and a really good pack leader. It was a sight to behold to see her in her power leading us all with full force to a place where we felt very safe. We felt very creative. We all felt very connected.”

Sounds like Zoë Kravitz, despite being incredibly hard on herself, still does a great job of getting things done. pussy island should be out sometime next year.
