Zoe Saldaña ‘wouldn’t be upset’ if she leaves Guardians of the Galaxy

“I miss Gamora, but I don’t miss 3:30 am calls and five-hour makeup sessions and trips to the dermatologist afterwards,” Saldaña said of her Marvel character.
Zoe Saldaña may be leaving the MCU.
After starring as Gamora in the Marvel franchise, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 marks the final James Gunn installment in the space adventure franchise starring Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista. Saldaña addressed her future in the MCU post Guardians.
“I can’t say no to anything but that green makeup? I wouldn’t be upset if it didn’t happen again,” she told Variety. “I miss Gamora, but I don’t miss 3:30 a.m. calls and five-hour makeup sessions and trips to the dermatologist afterwards.”
Saldaña continued, “Every time, you know, this 8-year-old or this father and this mother or these generations fans who remind me that what I did was special to them doesn’t leave me cynical about Marvel be. It makes me understand that the younger audience shouldn’t be overlooked anymore. They have feelings too and if something touches them just because we think it’s stupid, immature or naughty doesn’t mean it’s not special.”
It remains to be seen if Saldaña will reprise her role as Gamora in the upcoming Disney+ special, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which involves cheering up Star-Lord (Pratt). Writer-director Gunn, who now helms the DC franchise at Warner Bros. Discovery, previously called the MCU Christmas special “the best thing I’ve ever done in my life.”
“It’s totally ridiculous and we can’t believe every day that we can do it,” Gunn said earlier this year. “We all absolutely love it. It’s unlike anything anyone has ever seen before. I can’t wait for people to see it. And it’s out pretty soon. You know, it’s out this Christmas.”
Much like Saldaña, “Thor” star Chris Hemsworth teased the possibility of hanging up his gavel.
“I feel like we’d probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, know what I mean? I feel like it probably justifies that,” Hemsworth recently told Vanity Fair. “I have a feeling it would probably be the finale, but that’s not based on anything anyone told me or any plans.”
He added: “You have this birth of a hero, journey of a hero, then death of a hero, and I don’t know – am I at that stage? Who knows?”
